Julien Hamel Guilbert
Biography

Julien's expertise focus on customs litigation and on dumping and subsidizing investigations. He has also developed an expertise in international trade law while advising companies in the agri-food, manufacturing and forestry sectors. He collaborated in the defense of several cases (Canada-Australia wine dispute, Canada-U.S. softwood lumber dispute, Lone Pine v. Canada dispute, blueberry safeguard investigation, solar panels, etc.). He has presented before the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) and the Canadian International Trade Tribunal (CITT).

Julien completed his law studies at UQÀM and the École du Barreau, from which he graduated in 2020. He completed his Bar internship at the Commercial Litigation Department of the Ministère de l'Économie et de l'Innovation, where he was hired as a commercial litigation advisor. While studying law at the Université du Québec à Montréal, Julien was employed as a research assistant before submitting his master's thesis on the police powers of the State in investment law. Afterwards, Julien left the country to serve as a young professional consultant for the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Ukraine. During his stay, he assisted SMEs in innovative economic endeavours.
