History

DS’s strength lies in its deliberate choice to provide its clients with high-level legal services throughout their growth. Lawyers and clients are committed business partners in a joint entrepreneurial adventure.

Founded over ten years ago in Québec by Jean-François Welch and Martin Bussières, two lawyers respectively from a national law firm and an international accounting firm, the firm Welch Bussières, located in Québec, has been from the start a proximity law firm focused on providing high-quality legal services at a moderate cost while staying close to its clients.

The firm chose to expand in 2013 and became DS Lawyers Canada, extending its resources through an international partnership.

Expansion within Canada soon followed, with offices opening in Montréal (2014), Toronto (2015), Vancouver (2016) and Ottawa (2018). While significantly enhancing its scope, the firm retains what makes it strong: high-quality professional requirements focused on results, along with deep commitment to its clients, considered as business partners.

Setting up in strategic locations across Canada and choosing to become part of DS Lawyers’ international network was decided in order to enable the firm to provide multidisciplinary services adapted to the Canada-wide market and to market globalization. DS Lawyers Canada has 25 offices and 300 legal professionals but the major objective is still that of optimizing the performance of its clients’ business, whatever the field of action.
