Robert Verbuck

Biography

Robert Verbuck is a leading advisor to start-ups and emerging companies across various sectors with a focus on the cannabis industry. He has been involved in structuring, advising and helping fund early stage businesses across the cannabis industry, including cannabis cultivation, retail, processing, manufacturing, wellness and consumer products since 2014.

In addition to his business and corporate advisory roles, Robert has practiced corporate and securities law for 20 years and continues to act as a key legal advisor for numerous companies both within and outside the cannabis industry, with a specific focus on capital markets and transaction structuring advice across various platforms. He has significant experience with the Canadian securities and cannabis law regulatory regimes and all dealings with regulators, including stock exchanges, securities commissions, Health Canada and provincial cannabis regulators. 

He acts as a director or independent trustee of certain select private enterprises that he is passionate about in the energy, real estate and cannabis sectors.

Robert is a member of the Canadian Bar Association, the Law Society of Alberta and the Law Society of Upper Canada (Ontario). He received his Bachelor of Laws from the University of Toronto in 1998 and has been a partner of Burstall LLP since 2009 and a member of the firm since 2002. 

He has travelled extensively in five continents and is fluent in Russian.
